I have completed 6 hours of orienteering for an outdoor project
We did six days of hard courses at school.
My outdoor experience with orienteering was hard as I found reading the map and compass difficult. I found it easy with the running to the markers. We had to find either 10 or 13 markers and trying to finish my teams start and finish time each day. We had to get all the letters on the markers correct all the time and the markers will be far from all the other ones.
The skills i learnt was reading map features, contours, compass and learning orinteering rules.
Hi Blake sounds like you’ve challenged yourself and learnt some new skills too! Well done for sticking at it.
ReplyDeleteWere Max or Yorie in your team? How many other people did you have in your team?

DeleteKia ora Blake, wow you must now be really fit if you've spent all that time completing orienteering tasks for your William Pike challenge¡ That would have been a great experience to challenge yourself to read maps. What other orienteering courses did you complete. Elizabeth K
ReplyDeleteHi Blake, Great to see you are giving orienteering a go. It can be a difficult skill to read maps and compasses. Good work!
ReplyDeleteKia ora Blake, well done for giving it a go and trying your best. You showed great perseverance and team work skills. I hope you continue to develop your orienteering skills and try the permanent Christchurch city council orienteering courses spread over four regional parks.
